The chart below describes the weighting variables for the Original and Matte Series putters. Note that the tip weight kit is included with your purchase of a standard length putter. For mid and long putters, the tip weight kit is optional.

Changing the head weight allows the golfer to fine tune the balance point of the putter to match their stroke characteristics. Below the chart is a more detailed description of when and why it may be advantageous to change the weights. In addition to the tip weight kits, Heavy Putter sells replacement kits for the installed stainless steel weights. These kits come with four stainless steel weights, screws, and an allen wrench.

The installed weights provide the correct balance for a majority of golfers. However, we have found that every golfer has a distinct grip pressure and release stroke that may cause an early or late release of the putter head. The consequence of an early or late release can be that putts are consistently missing left or right. The timing of the release can actually be altered by changing the balance point – or adding/subtracting weight from the head. Following would be the practical application (for righties. Opposite for lefties):

• Missing Right: Increase head weight.
  The reason it works: Increasing the head weight lowers the putter's balance point which promotes a greater putter head release though impact.
• Missing Left: Decrease head weight.
  The reason it works: Decreasing the head weight raises the putter's balance point which promotes less putter head release through impact.

Through extensive testing, we discovered that unbalanced tip weight combinations can help straighten the path flaws in certain putting strokes.

• For a golfer with an Outside to In path (cutting across the ball), try placing heavier weight in the heel relative to the toe.
• For a golfer with an Inside to Out path, try placing lighter weight in the heel relative to the toe.
