Tour-milled grooves for shot-stopping spin from precise distances are cut into each new Wilson Staff® Tw9 wedge. New, lower-lofted cavity back options bridge the gap between the modern pitching wedge and the sand wedge, for improved distance gapping.

Filling the Gaps.

The 60°, 58°, 56°, 54° and 52° loft options feature tour-preferred shapes with smaller heads. Aggressive, tour-milled grooves deliver shotstopping spin for total control out of bunkers and tight fairway lies. The new 48° and 50° loft options feature slightly larger cavity-back playability disguised in a player’s blade shape. The same aggressive tour-milled grooves generate maximum spin for performance and accuracy from greater distances.

Tw9 grooves are cut as sharp, deep and wide as USGA standards allow. A 32.5° angle and square edges (standard grooves have a 42.5° angle and rounded edges) provide maximum spin and control around the green. The elastomeric coating in the milled recessed areas ensures a softer impact across the entire face of the wedge.

Distance gapping is an integral design feature. Consider these quick facts:

1. The average loft of the modern pitching wedge is 46°.

2. The loft of the average sand wedge is 56°.

3. Every 2° of loft equals approximately 5 yards. That means there is at least a 25 yard gap in most players’ bags.
